FEED ME!

natalie Uncategorized

I have finally figured out why pregnant ladies crave pickles.  It’s because EVERYONE is always asking if you’re craving pickles.  I can’t even begin to tell you how many people have asked me if I am eating, craving, wanting pickles.  I’ve said no to each of these people.  And then last night on my way home from school, I was like dying for some stupid pickles!!  I NEEDED them.  As Craig always says, I am an advertisers dream.  I see a commercial or hear about something and then suddenly I must have it.  All the things must be mine!!  So at 10:00 last night I was alone in my kitchen with a jar of pickle slices.  And they were heavenly.  I alternated pickle slices with a bite of cheese.  MMMM….cheese and pickles.

Frankly these last few weeks have been such a nice change from the first three months that I’m just happy food is going in and not coming back out.  I was miserable during the first trimester.  Nothing sounded good, nothing tasted good, and nothing was sticking around for long.  About three weeks ago my nausea was replaced by ravenous hunger.  I am simply amazed at how hungry I am.  Like “lay off me I’m STARVING” hunger.  (Ten points to anyone who can name that reference!)

I’m really trying to eat healthy though.  I’ve gently been asked not to gain too much weight because I sorta gained it all over the last few years and don’t have much to spare now.  So I basically eat lots of fruit, almonds, granola bars, and yogurt in the morning.  I try to eat light snacks so there is always something in my belly.  Once I get through lunch though I’m pretty good.

Everyone has asked me if I’ve experienced weird cravings.  I really haven’t.  I guess the weirdest thing is that I love really cold stuff.  I crave tall glasses of ice water.  And ice cream.  And cold, juicy fruit.  I ate like a quarter of a watermelon in one sitting one afternoon.  Was not my best idea because watermelon bloat and gas is so not attractive, but damn it tasted goooood!

And wow, all this talk about food is making me really hungry.  Go figure.  Time to go eat some strawberries.  Damn, haven’t they been good this season?!  Like the best ever!  (And by strawberries, I mean cheez-its!!!…just kidding…sort of.)

Snapped This is the day…

I think my pregnancy cravings will be really weird because I get cravings just in my normal life - after reading this post, now I have to go find pickles! ;)
